Katie and Paul's Wedding

The first thing Paul said to Katie when they met was "My grandfather was an ophthalmologist." And she was hooked. She was in the middle of her residency, training to be an ophthalmologist, and comes from a family of ophthalmologists (her father and brother, and her mother is an optometrist). Both Paul's grandfather and great grandfather were ophthalmologists. In searching for a charity that would be meaningful to both of us and impactful on the world, Paul's mother Mary suggested Cure Blindness.

For millions of people, blindness is treatable.

Unfortunately, 90-percent of people suffering from vision loss live in low- and middle-income countries where a solution isn’t available.

Our fundraising campaign is helping restore and regain sight to thousands in sub-Saharan African and South Asia.

Cure Blindness Project has core country operations in Nepal, Bhutan, India, Ethiopia and Ghana. Expansion initiatives are underway in South Sudan, Tanzania, Eritrea, and Somaliland.

Without care, blindness dramatically affects individuals, their families and their communities.

Cure Blindness Project with partners have performed over 1.6 million sight-restoring surgeries since 1995. In addition to patient care, Cure Blindness Project builds local capacity by training local doctors, ensures quality infrastructure and equipment are available and aids in prevention efforts.
